Celebrating 40 Years

2021-07-06T16:59:37-05:00July 6th, 2021|General, News, Oconomowoc|

Being forty years in the business is not just about experience, it is mostly about the relationships and the help we have been able to provide to the people we work with. In those years, we have created developments, listed many homes, businesses or land for our clients and helped them to find the same. Selling a property, especially a home, is about connecting the needs and lifestyle wants of our clients with the right fit for them. It is this experience that informs and guides our work to this day. While most of the Realtors at Stapleton Realty have not been here for all of those forty years, we benefit from [...]

Start of Summer

2021-05-11T15:36:11-05:00May 11th, 2021|General, Maureen's Musings|

Oconomowoc is enjoying a flurry of activity, especially now that nice weather is upon us.  Last Saturday the city was busy with the 5k/Half Marathon starting on Village Green and the start of the Summer Farmer’s Market in the parking lot across from Bank Five Nine. This Saturday there will literally be a “big splash” into Lac La Belle with the SOFA events that begin at the City Beach and go on the whole day with music and a little something for everyone (all free to enjoy).  Stapleton Realty has always been a big supporter of our community and this week we had the first organizational meeting for the annual Boat Parade [...]

What is a Seller’s Market and how does it affect you?

2021-05-11T15:43:10-05:00April 20th, 2021|Buying a Home, First-Time Home Buyers, General, Selling a Home|

Currently in the US, the majority of the housing market is a Seller’s market. Home prices are rising and inventory is tight, meaning there are not enough houses on the market for buyers. We also know that it is a seller’s market because the “DOM”, (days on the market), are very short, often less than 10 days.  In a lot of areas, the final sales price is exceeding the list price. Here are a few factors that are contributing to a “Seller’s market”: Population growth- When there is an influx of people moving to a town or a specific area, the demand for housing usually exceeds the supply.  This is certainly true for [...]

Pre-Listing Repairs

2021-03-12T15:06:13-05:00March 12th, 2021|General, News, Selling a Home|

We all have a list of repair items around our houses that we have lived with for years and in most cases can be handled quickly and for little money. In most scenarios when you list your home the buyers will ask for the chance to have a home inspection conducted. This is where major defects can be found and sometimes those small things you have been living with will be brought to the attention of the buyers. Taking care of small things shows buyers that you have maintained your property. Just a couple of examples to get you started… Deep clean all surfaces. Tighten bolts on toilets. Repair torn window [...]

Our Community

2021-03-12T15:06:46-05:00March 12th, 2021|General, Maureen's Musings, News, Oconomowoc|

The Oconomowoc Area Foundation was only a sparkle in our eyes when a group first met to discuss the needs of our community.  It is so very exciting to see how that little sparkle has grown to be a very bright showing spot above us.  It is easy to look around the beautiful area where live in and not see or think about the fact that there are people and places that need help. We began to prioritize who we could serve and what we could do, as a group, to make this part of our little world a better place to live, work and recreate in.  It didn't take long to [...]

2020-12-15T15:00:50-05:00December 15th, 2020|General, Maureen's Musings|

It is out of care for all of you and our  greater community that we are going to pause our annual holiday party this year and hope to return to it next year in better times for such gatherings. In lieu of the party, we are going to be donating to the Oconomowoc Food Pantry. We ask that you drop off  non-perishable food items or a monetary donation at our office (112 N Main Street). While being together always makes us feel better, we hope that this giving effort will bring us together in  feeling good for helping others. Raise a glass or two of the Old Fashion Punch we serve each [...]

The Hub of the Home

2020-12-15T14:53:12-05:00December 15th, 2020|Buying a Home, General, Lake Homes, Selling a Home|

The Hub of the Home The kitchen is the hub of any home, a space that needs to be functional yet esthetically pleasing. Now more than ever, we are staying home, cooking more, and spending more time in our kitchens. It is the room listing agents describe in great detail…stunning granite countertops, gleaming stainless steel appliances, oversized islands, and custom walk-in pantries. Because renovating a kitchen can be a substantial financial undertaking, some sellers will make small updates just to freshen up the space.  Painting, changing out light fixtures, and adding a backsplash can breathe life into an outdated space. If your kitchen could have been featured in an episode of the Brady [...]
